World Environment Day

World Environment Day is run by the United Nations and aims to be the biggest, most widely celebrated, global day for positive, environmental action.

Commemorated on 5 June since 1972, World Environment Day is one of the principal vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.  The day aims to give a human face to environmental issues and to also highlight the work that individuals, organisations and other stakeholders are doing around the world to sustainably manage our environment.

The Australian livestock industry has used World Environment Day for the past two years to highlight to urban Australians the great work that farmers’ are doing every day to manage 47% of Australia’s land mass.
