Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is a producer-owned company, working in partnership with industry and government to achieve a profitable and sustainable red meat and livestock industry for Australia.
We have the unique responsibility of providing marketing and research services to our 46,500 livestock producer members, and the broader red meat industry, to help them meet community and consumer expectations.
Each year Meat & Livestock Australia, on behalf of our industry and in collaboration with the Australian Government, invests over $13 million in research and development initiatives to further reduce the industry's environmental impact and work to continually improve our farming practices.
The industry spans over 47% of Australia's landmass and as a result, we have a closer association with more of Australia's land resources than any other agricultural industry and know first hand the importance of a sustainable environment. Similarly, in economic and social terms, the beef industry relates to more rural and regional communities, including Indigenous Australians, than any other industry in the country.
